80 + years living on the same road may seem a lifetime to some, but 15 years ago when it was time to downsize from the farm, it made sense to the owners that if you love the location, then why not just move down the road. So it was to be that they carved off a 1.78ha section to create their new home. To some, the flat bare section was just a bare block, but with the help of an experienced landscape designer, a great plan, and some heavy machinery, the site was transformed through contouring, fully post and rail fenced, and extensively planted with the aim of creating a manicured park-like setting, all while retaining those views to Pukemoremore that they had enjoyed for so many years.

Designed by Peter Chibnall and built by Richard Windsor Builders, this expansive 450m2 home took top honours in the Waikato Master Builders 2005 House of the year awards (and National Category Winner). The home was praised by judges for the affinity for it's rural environment, it's flow, perfect position and mix of materials, with the exterior being a combination of solid plaster and South Island schist (hand selected by the owners at the quarry), and is complemented by tounge and groove cedar stained soffits, and the timeless appeal of a shingle roof. Twenty-two stone pillars surround the home, taking the opportunities to frame the rural views from most rooms. The judges said ”It took considerable talent to make sure all the elements of this large residence worked together seamlessly and were not overwhelmed by the scale of the project”.

The layout was planned with a separate wing for both guests and grandchildren to stay, a separate TV room, formal lounge with macrocarpa sarked ceilings (timber milled from the farm), a home office, generous laundry/sewing area, 3 car garaging and an extra large workshop with a separate entrance with room for the tractor.

The base work has been done here with the opportunity for new owners to enjoy the mature plantings and with plenty of space and scope to add a pool, or perhaps a tennis court and make this a solid investment, in what's fast becoming a sought after location with its proximity to Cambridge (10kms), St Peters School (11kms), Hamilton (17km) and being zoned for Goodwood, Matangi, Berkley, Cambridge & Hillcrest High Schools.

Having enjoyed such a connection with the area, the many friends they've come to know over many years here, it's with a heavy heart the owners move on to their next chapter, but they leave in the knowledge the new owners have the makings of a timeless family home they will endure for years to come.
